About our Speaker: Seth Dillon

Seth Dillon is the CEO of The Babylon Bee, the world's most trusted, factually accurate news source. Taking on the tone of a traditional news media publication, the Bee satirizes real-world events and public figures.

Dillon's experience with censorship and deplatforming has placed him on the front lines of the battle for free speech in the public square. He now speaks on college campuses and at conferences across the country about the effectiveness of humor, the moral imperative of mockery, and the dangers of censorship. He occasionally signs off Twitter to enjoy time with his wife and two sons in Juno Beach, Florida.

Our 2024 Theme: Rulers Rage, God Laughs

Rulers Rage, God Laughs is a distillation of Psalm 2:1-6. In fact, we hope this passage came to mind when you first heard about our theme. Rulers Rage, God Laughs restates the biblical promise that, in the long run, evil loses because God wins. While some of Minnesota’s rulers plot against God’s design by pushing wicked legislation that promotes the murder of children and the rupture of the family, we can boldly rejoice because we know that all their striving is in vain. Evil is indeed so powerless before God that He laughs at it.

For a time, the wicked may think that they are winning—perhaps even that God is powerless to stop them. But God writes every chapter, including the end of his story. The Lord scoffs at his enemies and He promises to lead their ways to destruction.

Therefore, at Minnesota Family Council, we are not deterred by how ungodly rulers conspire. For the victory is the Lord’s. At our Annual Dinner this year, we will inspire Christians in Minnesota to trust so much in God’s plan that we laugh at wickedness and rejoice in goodness, just as He does. Rulers rage against God, but God blesses his people with all good things. That is a biblical promise, and a concrete reality.

Laughter, then, can be a godly response to what we see around us in the world – in fact, there’s a lot to laugh at! The Babylon Bee has been helping Christians to see the satirical side of the darkness around us since it was launched in 2016. Under CEO Seth Dillon, the Bee uses humor to show the absurdity and weakness of evil.

With Seth Dillon as our keynote speaker for Rulers Rage, God Laughs, you can look forward to a hilarious evening that is also Christ-centered and inspiring, prompting us to be unwaveringly committed to God’s Word and to take action in Minnesota!

Our Theme Verses

Why do the nations rage
and the peoples plot in vain?
The kings of the earth set themselves,
and the rulers take counsel together,
against the Lord and against his Anointed, saying,
“Let us burst their bonds apart
and cast away their cords from us.”

He who sits in the heavens laughs;
the Lord holds them in derision.
Then he will speak to them in his wrath,
and terrify them in his fury, saying,
“As for me, I have set my King
on Zion, my holy hill.”
— Psalm 2:1-6 (ESV)
